A 15 metre high solar-powered tree that emits light from a staggering number of 20,000 LEDs was unveiled at Mitsukoshi department store in Tokyo for Christmas 2008. The tree will be on display till 25 December 2008.
Light emitting diodes are one of the most power-saving form of lighting out there, but having just one of them isn’t going to light up a tree. This probably explains the large amount of LEDs planted on the tree just to make the tree ‘Christmas worthy’.
Best of all the Christmas tree is solar-powered, therefore cutting down the cost of running the lights on the tree to zero!
