Kohjinsha and Bandai Japan have come up with a netbook for children, and that’s the Gachapin and Mukku netbook PC. Gachapin and Mukku are actually popular Japanese characters on a children’s television show on Fuji TV where each of them possess special abilities.

The netbook is capable of displaying at a resolution of 1024×600 on an LCD measuring 8.9”. It is also equipped with Intel’s Atom N270 processor and 1GB worth of RAM.

While the screen size and processing power is adequate, the 1GB RAM worth of memory packed into this $868 system just doesn’t seem to be enough for current computing standards, considering the memory requirements of software and background applications today.

Apart from the small memory deficit, the other key features are pretty standard; this kid’s netbook comes with a 160GB hard drive, a 1.3 megapixel camera and a built-in 1Seg digital TV tuner good for watching live television broadcasts.
