Jog Around The Streets Of Tokyo Virtually With The Wiimote – Google Maps Combo
Guess what a true blue Tokyo otaku has done this time. This supposedly jogging enthusiast has actually got the Wiimote to interface with Google Maps to produce a really interesting jogging simulator!
So, what’s so special about it? Well, in this case the Wiimote is used as the motion detection device while Google Maps serves as the display. This is basically the crux of the jogging simulator system.
All we need to do next is to put the Wiimote in our pants and jog on the spot. Voila! The best of Tokyo while virtually jogging in the comfort of your own home.
From the video below what I can see is that the system will basically display a slideshow of a continuous series of pictures taken in the Google street view based on the estimated running speed of the jogger. It can seem rather boring between picture transitions but it’s definitely a clever idea.
