Kinect World of Warcraft

kinect world of warcraft

Here’s a cool implementation of the Kinect’s open drivers for an online MMORPG. This time, it’s the ever popular World of Warcraft. In the video, a programmer from University of Southern California’s Institute for Creative Technologies demonstrates playing a character in World of Warcraft solely on the Kinect using a recognition system called OpenNI that translates human movements into input commands from computer peripherals such as the keyboard.

Time for gamers’ body to get a bit of that action in real-life perhaps? Though it looks like it’ll really be quite a workout for an all-night raid event. However it does look rather fun to feel like a part of an in-game avatar using body movements instead of making use of the traditional keyboard and mouse combo for avatar control.
