This USB Mouse Really Sucks!

If you have the habit of snacking at your computer desk, this could be a useful gadget to have — a mouse that doubles up as a vacuum cleaner!

USB Vaccum Mouse USB Vacuum Mouse 2

The USB Vacuum Mouse will suck up crumbs after a rampage on tidbits, eraser dust and any unsightly particles left on the desk. It is powered by the USB port so there’s no need for an external power source if it’s already hooked up to the computer as the pointing device.

After you are done with the vacuuming, turn the vacuum switch off and you’re back to a plain ‘ol mouse again. This is a pretty cool idea for a mouse, considering the number of desktop snackers everywhere.

Would You Lick A Magazine To Sample A Drink?

Magazines have been publishing advertisements that allow readers to sample the smell of the advertised products such as perfumes for ages but how about one that lets you taste how an actual beverage will taste like?

welch-ad

The issue of People’s Magazine this month contains one just like that. The full page ad by Welch’s grape juice contains a portion that allows the reader to sample the taste of the juice.

This is one of the new marketing methods for food and drink advertising which is in collaboration with First Flavor, a company that came up with the technology. Wth this new form of advertising, everyone could be taste-testing by sampling ads of pizzas, new brands of soft drinks or even children’s cold medicines off magazine pages!

Thankfully the design of the peel-off ads do not reseal for a second try, or it could happen that a second-hand reader gets to lick a used sample.

Retro Handheld Guitar Hero On The Go

At a first look, this could easily pass off as an 90′s Nintendo pocket watch game of some sorts, with its somewhat cheap looking black LCD images and the static background. But ‘lo and behold, this is an actual Guitar Hero handheld toy that lets Guitar Hero freaks who can’t get enough of the game to play anytime and anywhere!

guitar-hero-toy

pocket-guitar-hero-toy

I can’t imagine how popular this item is going to get, when it gets released all over the United States in stores such as Toys ‘R’ Us and Target. Maybe when it gets popular and gets advertised enough we can see it making its way into Singapore in no time.

One more thing, I hope the music installed on it will be decent enough for human ears, and not the tweets and chirps of handheld games reminiscent of the past, which will be a real pain for public transport commuters.

Nintendo Characters Then To Now

Here’s an interesting picture chart that shows the evolution of Nintendo characters such as the well-known Mario and Link of Legend of Zelda fame back from the days of 8-bit gaming all the way to their current 3D renders.

Mini Solar-Powered Charger Handphone Accessory

Ever find yourself picking up your handphone in the morning only to realise the empty battery indicator and wanting to kick yourself in the behind for not charging it the night before? A solar charger that doubles up as handphone hanging accessory could be the solution.

solar-handphone-charger

This little contraption is a solar charger that hangs from the handphone and sucks sunlight whenever it has the chance and the power stored can be used to charge handphones that are out of juice. The gadget fully charges in 6-10 hours in direct sunlight and will charge a handphone for 35 minutes worth of talktime.

The solar charger accessory will start shipping at the end of the month but unfortunately its only for Japanese handphones. It does serve a very practical purpose and if you would like to find out more you can head on over to Strapya World’s product page to check it out.

First Looks: Nokia N78

Nokia has announced the Nokia N78, a sleek looking phone designed for navigation, photography and music. The Nokia N78 is the model that’s set to replace the N73.

nokia-n78-2

The Nokia N78 is one that would satisfy the music lovers out there, with the ability to access the Nokia Music Store, Nokia Internet Radio and Nokia’s new personal media sharing community dubbed ‘Share on Ovi’.

Following onto the phone’s music capabilities, the feature that stands out would be the FM transmitter built into the phone, allowing the phone to transmit on an available FM slot to be tuned in from a car or Hi-Fi set.

Moving on to its imaging capabilities, the phone comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and a built-in A-GPS system that geotags the photographs taken with the phone. This would be a useful function for trips and vacations as information about the time and place the photograph was taken is automatically captured and embedded into the image file.

Apart from the above, the N78 will come with microSD support for up to 8GB, WLAN, HSDPA and Bluetooth 2.0 compatibility.

The N78 is slated for a 2008 2nd quarter release, just before the arrival of the Nokia N96.

New Street Fighter IV Character Screenshots

These are the first character screenshots of the new Street Fighter IV fighting game by Capcom, 10 years since Street Fighter III was released. I feel it resembles the Street Fighter EX series, except for the more vivid expressions of the characters during gameplay.

The game features a guard bar and a offense bar, which can be used appropriately in a range of combos and counters. The gaming system in Street Fighter 4 has been designed to suit casual gamers and pros alike.
