The PS3 gaming community has something to cheer for again. Moments after the PS3 slim has been announced for a September 2009 release, it has already been unboxed. This sleeker offering of Sony’s latest gaming console is 32% smaller, 36% lighter and yields 34% less power consumption than its predecessor. Unfortunately a PS2 game can’t work on the PS3 slim, so no backwards compatibility there.

Joystiq has come up with a comparison chart between the PS3 slim and its fat brothers with different hard disk capacities. Meanwhile, PC World has also dropped a PS3 vs. Xbox 360 price-fight chart for gamers considering either consoles.
